Past Events

Several budget seasons ago we generated hundreds of irate calls to the Board of Supervisors, over tax hikes, for which Supervisor Snow publicly "thanked" us! We definitely knocked at least a few cents off the rate that year.

You know, we really need to bring a camera along when we’re up to something! On the other hand, when you’re putting an anti-tax sign up along a busy road at night, survival is usually your first priority.

Some of the previous events we’ll admit to include:

** a news conference in Leesburg, trying to convince the York board to oppose yet another increase to County Administrator Kirby Bowers’ salary (did they listen? here’s a clue - what two letter word begins with ‘n’ and ends with ‘o’?)

** a speech by Linda Chavez at a nice restaurant in Sterling. We’re trying to dig up some pics.  This was a great event!

** a speech by former Reagan official  and anti-tax activist Peter Ferrara, of Check out the Virginia Club for Growth

** the anti-regional sales tax campaign.  Yahoo! What fun that was, and we crushed our opposition!

“The voice of Loudoun’s hard working families”

Here is some of the gang, during 4th of July parades in Round Hill and Purcellville, holding a luaua, complete with hawaiian dancers, music, a stuffed pig (that’s a little symbolism here - think “budget pork”),  handing out anti-regional sales tax flyers.  We noticed later that the sea and sandy beach were upside down, but still people got the message.

Loudoun GOP passes tax rate cap resolution -

The Loudoun County GOP passed a resolution saying that Supervisors should not go higher than $1.09 for Fiscal Year 2005.  Sentiments on the committee are generally for $1.02 (the equalized rate), or lower, but members wanted to set an extreme upper limit. Supervisors are considering rates as high as $1.19, which would increase the average houshold’s tax bill by $633!!!
